During keri’as shema and its berachos, ONLY the following responses are permitted:

 

  • “Barchu”
  • “Kadosh, kadosh, kadosh…” and “Baruch k’vod Hashem…” of Kedushah
  • “Amein, Yehei shemei Rabbah…” of Kaddish
  • The “Amein” of Kaddish following “…da’amiran b’alma…”
  • The “Amein” after “…hakeil hakadosh” and the one after “…shome’ah tefillah”
  • The first three words of Modem d’Rabbanan
  • The “Amein” after each passuk of birkas kohanim, when the kohanim are saying them.
