Tefilla Halacha

When doing hagbaha on a sefer Torah, 3 columns of writing should be visible. The ikar hadin is that any columns may be shown; it is preferable to show what was read. In order to make sure that everyone can see the writing, the person who is doing the hagbaha must turn around in all directions.

Two ways to do it:

  1. Turn clockwise and show the Torah to the people on the left side of the Shul (Ari Stern’s right). Then he should turn counter-clockwise and show the Torah to the people on the right (Ari Stern’s left); or
  2. Make a complete clockwise turn.
