If you forget to say “HaShem, sefasaiy tiftach….” at the beginning of shemoneh essraiy, just continue.
Having a set place to daven in, especially in Shul, is a mitzvah and enhances one’s Tefillah. According to many commentators, each Tefillah adds kedushah to that place, and the accumulated holiness assists the Tefillos to be accepted.
