Although the passuk “HaShem , sefasaiy tiftach….” is described by Chazal as being part of shemoneh esreiy , nevertheless, if one forgets to say it (and starts shemonah esreiy ), one does not go back to say it, but just continues.
It is ossur to bring a ‘back-pack’ into a shul , unless it is being used for sefarim and the like. If one will not be able to focus or concentrate on davening if he leaves it outside, because of a real fear of it getting stolen or something like that, then one can be lenient and bring it in , although an attempt should be made to avoid having to do that. Certainly just to store it in Shul would be forbidden.
