If someone comes to Minchah a bit late, and the tzibbur is about to begin shemoneh esrei, he should join them immediately in shemoneh esrei. Ashrei should be said after Minchah, but only as if one is reading the Torah, not because of the obligatory Minchah recitation.

Sefarim bring down the following segulah:

מפני שיבה תקום
שתיקה
יפה
בבית
הכנסת

That is, שתיקה gets you שיבה (old age).

If halachah doesn’t work, maybe a segulah will!
